Notable performances: Invested in 1903 with the companionship of the Imperial Service Order, by the late King Edward VII. Recieved thanks of two Chancellors of the Exchequer, Sir William Harcourt and Sir Michael Hicks-Beach. compiled the History of the earlier years of the Funded Debt, from 1684-1786. Won Vaulting, civil Service Sports 1867, Record 7ft. Won chief swimming event at Winchester 1862. At the age of 65 was able to save a girl from drowning in the River Nadder.
