In 1924 it was divided into three dioceses: Winchester, Portsmouth and Guildford. The ringers decided that ringers in the Dioceses of Portsmouth and Winchester should form the Winchester and Portsmouth Diocesan Guild and those in Guildford would form a separate Guildford Diocesan Guild. | 1879 | 1923 | | Winchester and Portsmouth Diocesan Guild | Winchester and Portsmouth Diocesan Guild of Church Bell Ringers The original Winchester Diocesan Guild was founded on 26th June 1879 at a meeting held in Basingstoke. It was the result of the efforts of two individuals, Revd A du Boulay Hill the Revd Canon F T Madge.
