Worcester and Districts Association
The Association was founded at a meeting held on 10th April 1882 in Bromsgrove, following moves to set up a ringing organisation connected with ringing for church services, instead of the old local ringing societies whose activities were divorced from church services. This required early support from the clergy who had previously not encouraged the ringing fraternity in any way. Districts within the Association were established in 1911 as reflected in the nomenclature portrayed on the more recent versions of the membership certificate. For further background see the Ringing World (9th October 1982, pages 285, 291 to 292). [Research and observations associated with the Council Library Certificates Collection by Chris Ridley.]
