10 June 1876 - First meeting of the Lancashire Association of Change Ringers. At the National School-room at Chorley. [Research by John Harrison.]
The Association came into being as a result of a circular: Sirs, It has been proposed to form an Association of Change Ringers in Lancashire. We would like to hear your opinion on the above proposition. The objects of the above are: 1st to promote the art and science of change ringing; 2nd belfry reform; 3rd to induce the clergy and churchwardens to take more interest in the ringers and ringing.
